This picture was taken on a dull sleepy day in August  2004 and shows a nice cruiser getting ready to negotiate the locks at Laggan.

Laggan locks, a flight of two locks, connects the Laggan Avenue with Ceann Loch to lead into Loch Lochy.

There are pontoons, toilet & shower facilities , drinking water and also pump out facilities available for hire cruisers.

At Loch Lochy's north-eastern end, the canal passes the site of a clan battle involving

the MacDonalds, MacDonnells and Camerons against the Fraser's and a small number of Grants.

This Battle is known as the Battle of the Shirts - Battle of Blar na Léine - and took place in the summer of 1544.

On the east side of the locks you'll find "The Eagle" -  The Inn on the water. A converted barge offering great food and drinks.

You can moor your boat alongside the barge and indulge in a nice meal.
